Psychological ramifications of dietary supplements

Whether we’re talking about bulking in the body-building circles, or weight-loss anywhere else, there’s always those people who mistake “supplements” for “solutions”. They call it a supplement for a reason, it’s about time for some people to understand this. Supplementation, regardless of the objective, does not in any way replace a healthy diet. If you’re bulking, fine, go for the protein shakes, but that doesn’t mean that you should skip protein in your meals. Same goes for weight-loss, where in fact things are often far worse. Just because you’re taking natural diet pills that can help you lose weight, that doesn’t mean that you can eat whatever you want and still look like you want. It doesn’t work that way and as of now no such pill exists (sorry for bursting your bubble).

The psychological ramifications of dietary supplements can be counter-productive to weight loss because many people don’t understand this. It’s essential that you remember that this is a supplement, meaning that it supplements another method you’re using to lose weight, just making it a bit easier. It doesn’t give you the permission to eat whatever you want, whenever you want to eat it. It doesn’t work that way. You can’t burn 2000 calories a day, eat 3000 calories and expect to lose weight. There’s no way that can happen. That excess energy has to go somewhere, and guess what – it goes directly on your body, and no amount of pills will change that.

If you want to lose weight, diet supplements can help but you need to understand that they’re just that – supplements, not solutions. The fastest way to lose weight is to eat right, exercise and take supplements. However, you can’t expect that supplementation alone will solve your problem because it won’t.
