Are You Sabotaging Yourself in Your Weight-loss Efforts?

Sometimes when we want to lose weight, we don’t realize that we put different obstacles in the path. These self-sabotages are subconscious and have different reasons, but can often be quite detrimental to our success.

Why do we do it? There’s no simple answer. It’s different for everybody. Some people think that if they lose weight, they’ll raise other people’s expectations. Others sabotage themselves because of the failed attempts of people close to them. They feel guilty about potentially accomplishing something someone close to them has failed at. Another group doesn’t want to make their significant other feel insecure.

Whatever the reason, you need to stop. If you’ve decided that you want to lose weight, then there was a reason for it. Whether you want to be fitter, healthier, or both, you shouldn’t stop yourself from achieving it.

How do you know if you’re sabotaging yourself? There are a few ways. The most common by far is consuming lots of soft drinks. Soft drinks have a lot of sugar – empty carbs you probably won’t be able to burn before they’re deposited on your belly or face. Breaking your diet here and there with a small snack is also a symptom of self-sabotaging (more often than not).

It goes way beyond that, though. Spending a lot of time in unhealthy establishments like fast food joints and coffee houses notorious for the amount of sugar they put in their hot beverages, and more. If you want to lose weight, you should make sure that you really want it and there are no subconscious walls making you fail. Stick to your diet, exercise regularly, drink your dietary supplements (if you’re taking any) and do everything you can to keep your resolve. This is the only way you can succeed. If you sabotage yourself, you will only fail.
